Possum at the door

Fischer yawns... Is he trying to impress me... All in a day's work, grams, he brags.

You may know that the Chattanooga Resource Foundation for whom I worked and on whose board I sat for several years closed it's doors at the end of 2009. Tonight there is a dinner for all past board members to "Celebrate the Harvest". Dad and I are going... he's meeting me off the mountain. This info might not meet the standard of my weighty blog except for the... Possom at the door.

Even though Fischer likes to take over, it is clearly Tracker, who has "done it again". My dilemma is whether to just leave this animal until we get home tonight. Actually, that is no dilemma, as dilemma implies choice. There is no choice. I will stew and do nothing. I have no idea if the possum is dead or playing. I only know he is disgusting and I will not get involved.

As you can see, the possum relocates. Under his own steam? or has one of our pets moved it?
I once had a beautiful coat trimmed with opossum fir. It was probably the loveliest most fashionable coat I've ever worn. And here lies its descendent.

We had a wonderful 5 days with Debby and her girls. So proud of her running. Looking forward to seeing Alysia and fam as they pass through Saturday/Sunday. Then perhaps to Kirkwood for a weekend at the end of the month.

love you guys,
grams/mom/b...

oh yes, last weekend it snowed again, 7 inches. Forecast 64ยบ next Sunday. Come to our mountain and have it all.

At first I thought it was the Quatro's floodlight casting big shadows.
No, it was the moon, two days past the full, it's reflected light shining through ice-covered trees.
The sky had been a pale grey-white for two days during the storm; yesterday the sun came out, and this morning we saw a few stars, sharing the sky with the bright moon.
Now the eastern sky brightens, and the moon will say good-day to the sun.

...as I survey the skies, the work of your hands, the moon, the stars which thou hast ordained, what is man that thou art mindful of him...

no pictures, they could not have done justice anyway.
love you guys

We got ICE!!!

Friday's snow was followed by an ice storm Friday night.

The crepe myrtle looks like a weeping willow!

It is beautiful! Yesterday we were without power, but dad got the generator going, so we could use the gas furnace, run the 'fridge, make coffee, and (didn't need generator to...) use the gas cooktop.

Neighbors and friends looked after each other, and the volunteer fire department was out with chain saws helping especially the elderly.

The Bachmans old house behind us lost a big old tree... it split in three directions from the base.

Cable TV and modem are up this a.m.
Yea technology!!!

Love you guys,
mom

Phantom of the Opera

I have watched Phantom a couple times. Love the music. I mean I really love the music but have too many questions about the story line.
I was on my way to McKays Used Books when music from Phantom came on. So... at mcKay's I looked for and found the novel.
Now I'm ready to watch the DVD (which we have.)
Hope someday to see it on the stage again.

Let me know if you want to borrow either book or DVD.

Tracker Two, Squirrel Zero

Or is it: Squirrel = minus two?

Dad and I had a great break last weekend. The Kelleys get a 3-bedroom condo in Destin one week a year through Chip's job. They invited us to join them, and we had a really nice time.

There may be something about the Quatro kids, because they fed the pets while we were gone, and when we got home, there was squirrel #2 on the garage floor. (Remember that #1 was discovered by the Quatro kids.)

Tracker's next excitement will be to get tutored at the vet... I need to do that for him before he starts getting into fights.

love you guys

Sarah at Mother's Day Out

Pushing a vacuum while holding a phone in the other hand and a baby doll on her hip.

Promise. I walked through the nursery and peeked into Sarah's room this morning.
She wasn't doing a "grams", acting silly; she was quietly doing her thing.

Debby, good start on the work ethic!
